If you haven't completed your goals for 2017. It is ok. You are not alone. Your goal planning process should be fairly straight forward and follow the SMART ( Specific, Realistic, Attainable, Realistic, Measurable) acronym. SMART goals are built for the key performance areas that each person is responsible for.

One of the five practices of a great leader is to “model the way”. Goal setting is a perfect opportunity for a leader to “model the way”. Whether you are the CEO, head of the sales department or any leader of any area of the organization, you should lead by doing your goals first and making them public. Those who report to you should not do their goals until you share your goals as the leader. Everyone’s goals should align and support the leaders. This is why the leader should do their goals first.

If you do your 2017 goals now, and make them public, it gives everyone else enough time to complete theirs so it is executed and finished before the New Year starts.
